Scary experience

I wish I would have known about this website before I made a decision to sign a contract with La Capital Insurance. I have experienced bullying, intimidation, blackmail and harassment. My home was never fixed, my damages were not covered. They manipulated documents and estimates, stolen property and caused more damage to the home. I see most reviews have the same pattern happening. I’m very sorry to hear that the elderly are targeted by this insurance company. I hope this changes because it is unacceptable to run a company in such manipulative and unethical practice. I think it deserves a class action lawsuit. This handling and treatment of people are wrong in so many ways. I will be looking at other options for my insurance.

Terrible

After being 20+ years claims free clients, La Capitale took us (2 seniors) to the cleaners financially. It took them 14+ months to fractionally pay us the value of our water damaged contents and our time, even though our comprehensive insurance coverage was for full replacement value with no depreciation. We lost over $25,000 on that portion alone. The reconstruction estimate they gave us was short of reality by over another $25,000. We had to fight from Aug. 6 2019 until November before we finally got a cheque to begin repairs. Their 3rd party adjuster, GPC Gatineau, was a manipulative bully from day one. He lied, argued, and combatively made every step triple the work and stress for us. He arbitrarily made decisions that negatively affected us without ever informing us. Thank goodness all our communications were via email except the face to face interactions, which we would confirm back via email. When one has never gone through a major household claim, you don't know how the system works, what your rights are, what to expect, what to watch out for, what to have as proof before, during, and after the disaster. We will report La Capitale and GPC to all responsible organizations nationally, exposing just how unethical, devious, and outright bullies they are to their clients. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THESE 2 COMPANIES!!!

Terrible experience

La Capitale is horrible. I've been yelled at by their claims adjuster. I was told it would take 2 weeks for our claim to be processed. I'm still waiting for my reimbursement 7 months after submitting all the documents. Avoid this company. Even if the rate is cheaper. Not worth your time.

Households in Alberta pay, on average, approximately $60/month in homeowners’ insurance costs. We can help to push these costs even further down. Get a house insurance quote today to start saving today. Rates start at $20/month.

Home insurance disaster

Had a sewage water flood in my basement. La capitale sends an estimator who marks down clean water. La capitale now refuses to pay for drywall, plaster and painting. We've had 3 contractors give estimates to la capitale and still la capitale refuses to pay. Worst insurance company ever. The claim has been going on for 11 months. My camping tent got soaked in the sewage water and la capitale sends it back to me and tells me they cleaned it. Who wants to sleep in a tent that was soaked in sewage water? Terrible experience. Go with any other insurance company.

Rude brokers

I ordered tenant ins for my son who is a student and was paying for it. Papers arrived at my sons place and I told him to just put them aside thinking it was the policy. I received a call that they were cutting the claim because I did not pay it. They had me pay the bill and then cut the insurance. I had explained that it was to be debited from my account like my home ins was already. The broker said I had no proof of that via e-mail, but we had spoke on the phone. I am done with them and would never recommend them or the broker Mr. John Coirazza!
